Humanity’s operating system is due for an upgrade

Home of One is a platform for developing human consciousness at scale. Join in.

“I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. We cannot get behind consciousness.”

– Max Planck, quantum physicist, Nobel laureate

“The total number of minds in the universe is one. In fact, consciousness is a singularity phasing within all beings.”

– Erwin Schroedinger, quantum physicist, Nobel laureate

We’re at a critical point in history where humanity’s dominant worldview and operating system, materialism, is failing on a massive scale, leaving billions with legitimate existential questions unanswered. However, in these very years, a new multidisciplinary narrative is being formed, where the story of who and why we are is being rewritten to provide much-needed answers.

Home of One is a pragmatic account of this story, and it can have profound impact on you. It’s the ‘life manual’ they forgot to give you, and the greatest story ever told. We aim to serve as a catalyst for scalable consciousness development, giving anyone the opportunity to know the true nature of the world and integrate that knowledge into their daily life. Our method is a humanistic approach to metaphysics, the nature of what is, along with practical guidelines for personal consciousness development. We are supported by knowledge, science, and empirical data that anyone may question or adopt. We use plain language and common sense and stay clear of dogmatic religion.

Our goal is to help achieve critical mass of consciousness in the population to further the development of humanity towards a consciousness-centric worldview. This worldview is called metaphysical idealism or, simply, idealism.

Idealism says that the world is fundamentally consciousness. This is supported both by consistent findings in quantum physics, evolution by natural selection, and general relativity, as well as a plethora of empirical data. We don’t just have consciousness, we are consciousness. This common misunderstanding is at the root of the biggest threats facing our planet today. Ignoring our fundamental nature and continuing to live non-consciously causes unnecessary suffering for individuals and leads to escalating disaster for our global society.

Materialism is the scientific paradigm and cultural worldview that has led us to where we are. It says that everything is material and essentially meaningless, including humanity itself. Although materialism has been scientifically, empirically, and ethically refuted, it is still the default operating system of humanity, affecting every aspect of planetary life negatively. It’s time to upgrade.

Each individual consciousness is part of universal consciousness, called One. By developing our personal understanding of the nature of consciousness, we develop the quality of consciousness itself. We become aware of the world and how we co-create it, both within us and around us.

The way forward for humanity is within, towards peace, unity, and purpose. It’s already begun and continues with you. Join in now.

Home of One is non-religious, non-dogmatic, and open to everyone. Here, you will find:

  • I Manifesto. Introduction to universal consciousness for humans. A short narrative outline of the nature of reality and why you are here. The ‘life manual’ they forgot to give you, and the greatest story ever told.

  • II Background. Pragmatic idealism: Human metaphysics for modern minds. Methodological considerations of pragmatic idealism. The background for our Manifesto and its underlying worldview.

  • III Development. Practical consciousness development for humans. A pragmatic introduction to the nature and functioning of individual consciousness that anyone can follow.

  • Academy. A resource of some of the best that universal consciousness has to offer. Here, you’ll get access to both modalities, teachings, and universal minds to guide you on your journey into greater consciousness.

  • Embedded in our logo is the ‘I’, the sign for both roman one (1) and I (i), which elegantly shows how universal consciousness (One) is individual consciousness. It is also the uninterrupted line from above to below, meaning as above, so below, an old hermetic credo. The waveforms indicate the unified field, the unbounded subjective field of universal consciousness in which everything arises, in this case the I. The circle symbolizes unity and the eternal now.

  • We’re very conscious of the fact that our Academy and general use of source material is lacking in diversity. This is not by design, but reflects thousands of years of patriarchy and also that Home of One was founded by a single person with his own biases. Please help us by suggesting source material to mend this fact. We will include every source that gets multiple mentions as long as it is in line with the general thesis of Home of One and adds a valuable perspective with the required level of quality.

  • An early version of Home of One was offered as open source, where anyone could comment and suggest changes. Two people submitted comments for which I am very grateful!

The idea was that social input would form the basis of future versions. It was also a way to be honest and humble about the (in)completeness of Home of One. It will never and can never be complete because humanity, language and cognition are limited. It also sought to mirror the fractal or holographic structure of universal consciousness itself where essential knowledge is contained both in one and many.

However, I have since concluded that facilitating this exchange is no longer my calling. I believe it is still meaningful to provide my own limited perspective here to join the many thousands, if not millions, of glimpses into the metaphysical realm that history has provided us with.

Future versions of Home of One are still likely to be sourced through this limited channel as I grow individually, stay tuned.

  • This is not a scientific, religious or even academic platform, but a series of pragmatic humanistic essays on how we arrived at the concepts conveyed in our Manifesto (Volume I) and its underlying worldview: Pragmatic idealism. We claim no authority other than that of the consciousness of its authors and contributors.

It is to be expected that any presentation of universal consciousness and the dynamics of consciousness development will meet resistance from religions, diverging worldviews and materialism. Please understand that nothing on this platform is to be considered dogma. Take what you can use, if anything, and leave the rest. Also, it is not required to subscribe to a particular belief system, or any belief system for that matter, to benefit from our practical guide to consciousness development. We respect whatever faith or belief you hold and ask that you grant us the same courtesy in return. We are not your end destination, but serve as a catalyst.

Finally, please understand that to any attempt to make metaphysics generally approachable, one needs to reduce the amount of complexity. If you have ideas for how to strengthen the wording and thesis of Home of One, please get involved.

About our founder

My name is Martin Aurum, and I consider Home of One the ‘life manual’ that someone forgot to give us at birth. I hope you will find it useful.

I’m the founder and main author of Home of One. I was born into a materialist and atheist environment and lived non-consciously for decades. In 2008, I experienced the simultaneous events of new life and death, which stretched me out between the farthest extremes of earthly experience and tore apart what I considered to be ‘me’. What followed was a long, stumbling journey into consciousness, where I had to surrender to a process that led me to insights far greater and stranger than anything I could have ever imagined. My journey is about overcoming unbearable loss and resolving repressed childhood trauma by making it conscious and using it as a catalyst for growth. At the end of my story is silence. A simple ‘I am’, followed by nothing and everything. I’ve retold my story in the book Finding No One.

The only authority I claim is that of individual consciousness. I owe much gratitude and respect to anyone mentioned on these pages and in our Academy. Thank you for being broad shoulders to stand on. Also, thank you to anyone who cares to follow in the footsteps of the idealists who came before them.

“Although I am a typical loner in daily life, my consciousness of belonging to the invisible community of those who strive for truth, beauty, and justice has preserved me from feeling isolated.”
– Albert Einstein

I’m hoping Home of One can make ‘the invisible community’ visible and help connect fellow travel companions.
